Pinterest in Real Life - Pinterest projects don’t always go as planned. Often the end result doesn’t look like the perfect pictures you see, but it’s not about how it looks. The important thing is that you’re exposing your kids to new shared experiences. It doesn’t have to be Pinterest perfect to be fun or playful.
My kids LOVE to dress up. We used to keep all the costumes in a container in my daughters room but they weren't really using them as much as they would if we had it in a more prominent area. I saw a couple of pins on Pinterest about how people had set up a dress up area in their house and I wanted to do something easily accessible and fun for the kids to play with on a more regular basis.
I chose to use a corner of our living room as our dress up place. I took a couple of hooks and put them on the wall so that they would have a place to hang up some of the costumes. Then I moved the dress up container into the space as well. We did some sorting and cleaning out; some of the things were too small or broken so we got rid of those items and kept it simple.
We keep adding a few things here and there to the dress up area. I made pirate masks using foam and elastic. My son made some binoculars with toilet paper tubes and we added those to the dress up chest. I was also feeling crafty this year and have made their Halloween costumes. My son is going as Batman and my daughter is going as Tinkerbell. I found this excellent tutorial to make wings here from A Little of This and A Little of That. Those will also be added to the dress-up area after trick or treating.
Do your kids like to dress up? Do you have a space for it in your house?
